After 100 days, several Mapuche political prisoners have ended the hunger strike. Spokesman Rodrigo Curipán clarifies that they have reached an agreement with the gendarmerie and have suspended the struggle: “We have laid the foundations for minimum dignity in prison policy.”

The hunger strike began in May, when Gendarmeria dismantled the special prison module and severed its relations with its spiritual protection. Six prisoners were transferred and removed from Angol to Temuco. The Angol News Channel explains the module they dismantled in the context of conflicts in Angol prison.

They have demanded respect for their cultural and territorial rights, the suspension of the anti-terrorist law, the approval of International Labour Organization Convention 169 and the freedom of Mapuche political prisoners for 100 days, which have been suspended in accordance with the Gendarmes.

Eleven of the political prisoners who have taken a hunger strike in Angol prison are sent to hospitals and six of those fighting in Temuco, with the aim of "guaranteeing their safety".
