The director of EiTB justifies the censorship of the t-shirt that says 'Altsasucos Libre'
  • The interview of a producer of Laudio was not done because the Altsasu wore a Libre t-shirt. Maite Iturbe, CEO of EiTB, says that they acted according to the EiTB style book as received by Gara.

In mid-June, a producer house contracted by ETB went to Laudio to interview local producer Juan Lekanda for a gastronomic session. Lekanda from Altsasu wore a Libertad t-shirt and interviewers told her that because she wore a rudder on her t-shirt, they couldn’t do it to her. After refusing to change the shirt, the interviewers decided not to record it.

Josu Esterrona, a member of parliament of the EH Bil, asks Maite Iturbe what charges, with name and surname, made the recording to cancel the decision, in what regulations the interviewees must wear and whether there have been other similar cases.

The Director General in the Vitoria-Gasteiz Parliament has refused to answer who made the decision and whether there have been any other cases. The argument of the style book has been the only one that has used it, “viewers, listeners and users should not use this type of mechanism for personal, commercial or advertising purposes.”

Three months ago, the Spanish public network TVE’s Aquí la Tierra range did the same. He didn’t interview a rancher from Cuartango because the Altsasu wore a Libertad shirt.
