The Alsasua bus company announced last Tuesday the tender for unliquidated creditors with a debt of EUR 48.8 million. Today, 367 people work.
On Sunday, a multitude of people met in Alsasua to demand alternatives from the company Sunsundegi and the creation of a new industrial plan. “Sunsundegui has a future. Solution. Solution already” was the motto of the mobilization organized by the works council together with the unions ELA, LAB and UGT. The group defines it as “a company with a future”.
The members of the Sunsunsundegi Commission say that they experience the situation “unknowingly”: “Neither the staff members nor anyone understands how in a few months we have moved from the possibility of creating 800 jobs to the possibility of losing everything. However, they have criticised the fact that in recent years workers have made a great effort to improve working conditions and have also suffered delays in payroll payments.
The unions have pointed out that, despite the seriousness of the situation, Sunsunsundegi is “a company with a market” and strategic for Alsasua, the region of Sakana and the whole of Navarre.
The Government of Navarre, through the Minister for Industry, Mikel Irujo, has shown its willingness to continue working towards a partner who takes Sunsundegui out of the situation. Last July, Volvo’s investment in the company of Alsasua (Alicante) was cancelled.
