Two of the defences of the eight young people condemned by the incidents with the Civil Guard have so far received the Strasbourg response: In particular, the lawyers of Unamuno and Urkijo. They complained to the Court of Human Rights that they had been violated the right to a fair trial, inter alia, by denying evidence, with irregularities in recognition, etc. They were also violated the right to an impartial judge, as Judge Concepción Espejel, who judged and condemned the eight youths, is married to a Civil Guard colonel.
