Over the past few weeks, Vox has been campaigning hard against Maria Goiricelaya’s Altsasu theatre play, which describes the case of Altsasu, and has called for its prohibition by mentioning the need to defend ETA victims and the dignity of the Civil Guard.

Vox meets at the time of performance at the Abbey Theatre. Some 450 people have been gathered according to the Government Delegation. The councillor of the City of Vox, Javier Ortega Smith, has strongly criticized the work: “The Spanish Constitution protects freedom of expression, but with limitations: The terrorist group ETA murdered 230 in [Madrid] and it is said that this is freedom of expression. That is euphemism, hypocrisy.”

Before the concentration of Vox, another group of citizens has claimed the freedom of expression called by Podemos. Vox strongly criticizes the autonomous government and the city of Madrid. The PP authorities have responded that the Teatro La Abadía has the right to make its program.

The room with capacity for 195 people has been full and before starting the work the public has offered four minutes of applause to the four actors, as it has been read in the InfoLibre chronicle. It is also explained that theatre director Juan Mayorga La abadia has addressed words of thanks to the public for his visit to the play after the vorágine suffered in recent days: “Theatre is a place for peace and freedom.” According to the chronicler, at the end of the work many viewers have pointed out that “work is very good” and that “bilateral suffering” looks good.
