Complain that Alokabide is forcing successful tenderers to accept "harmful housing"
  • Various groups have denounced that Alokabide is coercing potential tenderers from Salvatierra/Agurain and Araia to accept their proposals. They criticize the fact that in recent months the allocation of public rental housing in the region has become an "abuse".

Argilan-ESK, Elkartzen, ongi Etorri Errefuxiatuak Araba and the Platform for Social Rights of Vitoria-Gasteiz (PDS) appeared on Thursday, 10 October, in the morning, together with the unions ESK, ELA, LAB DU BILAIA and STEILAS.Tambi representatives of the DUAIA were present.

These people have refused access to a rental housing that could have caused them damage for different reasons, so Etxebide has excluded them from their waiting list.

The main problem identified by these agents is as follows: According to Lanbide's regulations, leaving Etxebide's lists means failing to meet the requirements for access to the Income Guarantee Income (RGI) and the Supplementary Housing Benefit (PCV).

"We are witnessing painful situations"

According to reports, many people registered in Etxebide as claimants of housing, "both for the RGI and for access to a rented housing, which would allow them access to it".

However, they have explained that, although prices are adequate, in some cases there are different reasons for "inadequate" housing. Among them, the "worsening" of the housing conditions and their distance from the usual housing and the social environment stands out.

On many occasions, these reasons lead to the denial of protected housing and warn that "this poses a risk of exclusion from Etxebide's list for a certain period of time".

They have explained that if this person or family receives emergency benefits and renounces official protective housing, they will have "a harsh punishment" to suspend or extinguish the PCV and RGI: "We are witnessing painful situations."

According to him, "the IGR and the PCV are an instrument for combating social exclusion" and, therefore, "people should be allowed to choose their own accommodation". They therefore call for approval of the pleadings that have transferred to Alokabide different people from the Alavesa Plain.
