On Wednesday, the tripartite committee of the Spanish Government, employers and trade unions in the Upper House met. At the same time, the Ministry of Labour proposed the extension of the ERTE until 30 September, as well as the maintenance of certain sectors until the end of the year. The Ministry considers that the decision to maintain the TEUs in the sectors and activities until the end of the year is a function of a three-member commission. This decision should be decided by the committee before 30 September.

The proposal of the Spanish Ministry of Labour would allow the TEU to extend until the end of September for reasons of force majeure and economic, technical, organizational or production. As they have pointed out, a compulsory consultation period would be established for TEUs extended on the basis of force majeure.
