Father Mari called for "protection" of Italy and Malta, but the last country did not accept the possibility of the rescue boat "opening its port". The Italian Government authorised the arrival of the rescue vessel in Sicily, which had been escorted by the military. The vessel remains waiting for the landing protocol to be activated at the Sicilian port of Augusta.

Aita Mari rescued 102 people in the Mediterranean on Friday, and a second boat, of 46 people, was located within a few hours. However, for safety reasons, the 46 shipwrecks could not be boarded, despite the fact that the vests were distributed and the stability of the skate was assured. In the group of rescued persons there were two out of seven pregnant women and one nine-month-old child who had also been rescued. The 46 people on the second boat decided to continue sailing to Lampedusa and managed to arrive on their own.

Two people have been landed at Aita Mari for medical assistance. One of them had to be treated at the boat clinic for "symptoms of hypothermia and possible intoxications by inhalation of the fumes of the fuel", according to the same sources. The rest of the passengers had signs of torture, such as foot shots, burns and fractures with boiling water, according to Humanitarian Marine Rescue.
