A chamber of Ahotsa.info presents a criminal complaint against an agent of the Municipal Police of Pamplona, with plate number 734, for a few facts in June 2021.
According to Iñigo Orduña, on 3 June 2021 he moved to Monastery of Urdazubi/Urdax street to denounce the real estate speculation called by the Gazte Komunistak group. In the action, when he was receiving the statements of the entrepreneurs, several agents appeared, both uniform and street. “One of the street guards asked me to stop recording and threatened me several times with the application of the Mordaza Law,” Orduña recalls. A while later he received a complaint in which he realized that there was a record of absolutely false facts. "It was said that violence was used, that I used a suit or object covering my face (referring to the mandatory kiss at the time), or that I said phrases I never said. For example, Spanish laws passed through the ass. And I can show that it’s an absolutely false story because my camera recorded and recorded everything that really happened,” says the journalist of Ahotsa.info.
Office lawyer Zuzenean Josu Beaumont has filed a complaint against agents. Because a public official believes that the falsehood of public documents can be a crime, a serious crime with imprisonment and disqualification. Furthermore, counsel believes that there may be an aggravating factor for ideological discrimination.
Ahotsa.info launches a warning to value these facts. "We find the action of this agent, who uses the Mordaza Law and the presumption of truth given to his word to attack a journalist in his work for ideological reasons, very serious. Fortunately, the facts were recorded, and that is why today we have tabled a complaint and not an appeal to an accusation that we would not have the opportunity to defend ourselves. Because, on many occasions, policemen abuse their authority and citizens cannot defend themselves," the note mentions.
But, moreover, the case is more serious, because these facts were denounced in the City Hall of Pamplona, and although Orduña has been fined, they have not investigated the agent for falsifying a public document, which can also be a crime.
"We believe that this action should not be carried out by a police force at the service of citizens, and that is why we have decided to fight it. Our intention is to prevent these events from recurring and to encourage people, if they believe they may be victims of police abuse, to record and report them," the note explains Ahotsa.info.
From this medium of communication, the right to work freely is once again vindicated. "We are once again claiming our right to carry out our information work without any pressure and threat, let alone those who say they watch over our rights. And we believe it is also a good opportunity to call for the repeal of the Mordaza Law, which restricts the rights of free expression and information, in order to guarantee the impunity of police officers who abuse their authority".
As we have said on other occasions, we will continue our work to give voice to the associative and popular movement in Navarre that works for social transformation, they will not silence us.
