- The conference to be held on Friday 27 in the morning entitled: “Towards a universal Basque public care system”. The rapporteurs will be pensioners, family members of residents of residences, migrant women caring for the elderly and university teachers. They will also report on the Fundación Pilar de Madrid. The days to be held in Azpeitia have been organised by the Irauli custody platform.
It cannot be said that since March there has been no mention of the elderly sector. Unfortunately, the pandemic has brought home to all citizens the homes of the elderly and the media have monitored them on a daily basis. The numbers of deaths and infections are easy to visualize, another question is whether the situation has been used to discuss the model of nursing homes. Moreover, if focusing on the drama of the residences has not stopped seeing the forest. In other words, many of those attending these days believe that it is time to put the whole surveillance system upside down.
