The organizers are pleased with the response of the V edition. “The weather didn’t help us much. However, a lot of people are signing up. Skateboarders are out, too. We doubted that they would come out with such torrential rains, but they have been brave and have participated. So, overall, we are happy,” says Irati Goitia, a member of the organization.
With the national call, people have come from all corners of the Basque Country and there have also been many Oñáticos, according to Goitia. The Corredor initiative has aroused a lot of expectation in Oñati, where not only the number of runners is high, but also the streets of the town have been full of people.
Goitia points out that it has taken a lot of work to organize them in Corredera, but with the help of the citizens, she says that they have managed well. "With so many registrations, we have had to do a lot of work, but there is a group at the national level that is organizing this every year and the people have also helped us a lot. So, thanks to these two aids, we have managed to get along well," he says.
The Fifth Edition
It was held for the first time five years ago in Oiartzun, and this year it has been in Oñati. “We went to every country. This year we actually had to do it in the North, but in it we were asked for the medical certificate of each runner, which has been an obstacle for us. So we are back in Gipuzkoa again," explains Nekane Ayensa, a member of the National Solidarity Corridor.
The main objective of Bidebidebidean is, according to Ayensa, "to show solidarity with the Basque prisoners and reprisals and their families". In addition, there is another object of the present invention. "We have to end the dispersal. It never makes sense, but today it still makes less sense. So until we finish with that, we will continue here, from the sports field," says Ayensa.
On the other hand, Ayensa adds that it is a proclamation of the whole year that ends today. "We make this proclamation throughout the year and the truth is that we are satisfied with the response that the people have had so far and especially, in this case, the people of Oñati. It’s a great response and we’re happy with that,” he concluded.
