20 films on human rights. Festivals
  • 20,000 species of bees (2023), directed by Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren, will open on 21 April at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre on 20 Human Rights in San Sebastian. Film festival. Organized by the Department of Human Rights of the City Hall and Donostia Kultura, this year’s special prize will be awarded to Chilean filmmaker and writer Carmen Castillo.

The French film Toi non plus tu n’as rien vu (2022) will close the festival on April 28 at a gala in which the awards of feature films and short films will be presented at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre.

The screenings of this year’s films will mainly take place at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre, while at the Main Theatre two performances will be held. On the other hand, in Tabakalera three films will be shown that make up the Cinema and Memory cycle. This year a total of 40 films from 32 nationalities (27 feature films and 13 short films) have been programmed.

In addition, three films will be screened for schoolchildren from city schools. In total, there will be ten performances in the Main Theatre. The films are Yoko oporraldiak (2022), Trash (2020) and Gabi, 8 to 13 years (2021).

In addition, they have prepared five exhibitions within the programming of the festival.

This year, again, Esna TU will be an online game on human rights organized by the NGO Coordinator for the Development of the Basque Country, which will test the knowledge of the participants in this area.

This programme will be complemented by tertulias in which protagonists of films, filmmakers and experts in the social issues addressed will participate.
