343 people have been found in an abandoned truck in Mexico on Sunday night, according to the Mexican Migration Institute (INM). They wanted to migrate to the United States. Of these, 103 were minors travelling alone and 28 were accompanied by a relative. Most are from Guatemala and the rest of Honduras, El Salvador and Ecuador.

The abandoned truck is found in the state of Veracruz without driver. Inside there were two steps made of metal structures where the migrants were stacked. Coloured bracelets were placed for identification.

Minors and families are transferred to the Comprehensive Family Development System in Mexico. Adults have had to implement administrative procedures to determine their legal status in Mexico.

No exception

Sunday was no exception. INM reports that last week 79 migrants were found in the capital of Tijuana, grouped in hotel rooms. At the beginning of the year 269 people were found in a truck in the state of Chiapas.

Mexico is being the largest migratory flow in history. In 2022, 2.76 million people left the U.S. border without papers. The United States stated that 30,000 migrants from Nicaragua, Cuba, Venezuela or Haiti would receive a month, but that they would deport the rest. In February, for example, nearly 100 minors in Guatemala were deported from Mexico.
