22 students start a cycling march from Bordeaux to Baiona claiming the right to practice the Lower in Basque
  • 22 students and four teachers of the Stitxu Robles school in Baiona start on Tuesday from Bordeaux to Baiona: 200 kilometers by bicycle to reach the demonstration on Saturday in the working capital. The study has achieved the long struggle of the Basque movement to test the Brebeta sciences in Euskera, and now they seek that the Lower can be performed in Euskera.

With bicycles and sleeping bags, on Tuesday the students started a five-day march, which consists of touring about 40 kilometers a day through the bidegorri that connects Roscoff with Hendaia. The last four kilometers they want to do with as many people as possible: they have summoned all Euskaltzales to join with their bicycles at 16:30 in Plaza Semard de la Vocal, with the aim of “arriving massively” to the demonstration called in Baiona at 17:00. They have said so in Kazeta.eus.

Euskalgintza’s “serious” situation

The demonstration on Saturday was convened by the Basque Confederation in favor of the right to tests in Basque. The mobilization will start from the supremacy of capital and its objective is to carry out a great demonstration to promote Basque cultural activity. They will report on Saturday that the French Government prohibits the conduct of tests in Basque, which imposes limitations and obstacles to teaching in Basque and which does not legally support the Basque Country. The callers have added that the local authorities “do not do enough to change the situation of the Basque country”. They want to put on the table the “grave situation” of Basque cultural activity in Iparralde.
