The challenge of maintaining and not changing Catalan for 21 days
  • At the proposal of Matinc el Català from his Twitter account, a new language initiative is being prepared in Catalonia. The challenge is to speak Catalan for 21 days and not to change language, especially in situations where it is usually changed. The proposal provides for 23 April to be held between the day of Sant Jordi and 13 May.

From the Mantinc el català account, which I support Catalan, have launched a new campaign with the aim of influencing linguistic habits. "I always keep myself in Catalan, everywhere and with everyone," he added. They want people to take on that motto, when Sociolinguists warn that the use of the Catalan language is sinking and that the survival of the language is not assured.

And why 21 days? This was taken up in the Vilaweb newspaper: "Experts say it takes 21 days to establish a new custom, so the initiative has that duration," he added.
