"2020.urtea: Have we forgotten that 50% of waste should be recycled?" UEU organises the seminar
  • As part of the programming of summer courses, the Basque Summer University has organized for this Thursday, July 16, an interesting seminar: "2020.urtea: Have we forgotten that 50% of waste should be recycled? ". The conferences will take place at the Maskerkua Palace in Eibar from 10:00 in the morning.

On Thursday, 16 July, it will focus on waste management at the seminar organised by UEU at Eibar headquarters, directed, according to the organisers, to those involved in waste management: "2020.urtea: Have we forgotten that 50% of waste should be recycled? ".

That is how the EU explained Thursday’s offer: "Climate change is a consequence of the greenhouse effect, so we will look at the greenhouse gases, the increase in CO2, the importance of sectors, and in that of course the contribution of waste management and treatment.

In analysing waste, we will look at domestic solid waste. How many waste do we generate every day? Waste, hierarchies, how much is compostable? Where and when is it waste or raw material? What targets do we have to meet by 2020?

If we burn waste, the solid material would disappear and we would also get renewable energy. A lie that has, however, been heard many times. What is a Zabalgarbi and Zubieta incinerator? What do they smoke? Are they energy-efficient? When we burn C H O Cl N P Fe Al W in 700K, that is, in the incinerator oven, what comes out of the fireplace? Just CO2 and water? Arrhius, catalysts, dioxins and furans, bioaccumulation.

Compost. Its effects and benefits. If we eat the compostable waste fraction, how much CO2 do we not remove?"

The teachers and the sections that will work are as follows:

Leire Ruiz (Doctor of the UPV/EHU in Physical Chemistry):The greenhouse effect, from necessity to problem.

Daniel Zuazagoitia (PhD in Analytical Chemistry. Teaching School, UPV/EHU): Solid urban waste.

Gorka Bueno (Doctor for the UPV/EHU in Higher Engineering): Incinerators.

Sonia Arrasate and Eneritz Anakabe (Professors of the UPV/EHU, PhD in Organic Chemistry): Dioxins and Furans.

Natxo Irigoien (Doctor for the University of Navarra): Spinning around the domestic composting of bio-waste.
