- More than 200 people have participated in the police operation conducted this Thursday morning in Sopela, where they have shown their support and solidarity to the detainees. The three young people detained have been released during the course of the persecution.
The National Police arrested three neighbours of Sopela on Thursday morning, and recorded the house of another citizen in Sopela. They were allegedly arrested for denouncing the misery generated by gambling halls in the municipality. After being released during the dragging, the agents have concentrated on the Plaza del Ayuntamiento de Sopela to denounce the arrests of two people.
The detainees have been captivated throughout the morning, although they have been released on the arrival of the dragging. Eyewitnesses have explained that, although the operation has been carried out by the National Police, the judicial procedure was previously open because of an investigation by the Ertzaintza.
In order to denounce the arrests, a mass rally was held in the plaza opposite the Sopela City Hall. These types of operations, which aim to "criminalize" the struggle and the organization, represent "a direct attack" against the popular movement, they have denounced.
