The Open Arms rescued 56 people on Monday afternoon and 102 others in the evening at the exit of the boat on which they travelled after being warned. According to the data provided by Gerard Canals, head of the ship, the state of gravity is not among those rescued, despite the injuries he suffers. They are 158 persons of nationality Senegal, South Sudan, the Gambia, Egypt, Chad or Burkina Faso, of whom 38 are minors, according to official sources. They've been treated and fed them. They say the situation is "globally good."

Along with those rescued by Open Arms, there are 642 people waiting to dock: Alan Kurdi has had 77 people on board since the weekend, while Ocean Viking has rescued 407 in five operations other than his own. The last two vessels have departed to Taronto (Italy) in search of a port on the Italian coast. The Open Arms is located near the coast of Libya, being the only boat there.

870 migrants have arrived in Italy since the beginning of the year; last year, at the same time, there were 155 arrivals, according to data from the Italian Ministry of the Interior.
